Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse

The beautifully restored Victorian homestead, Bartholomeus Klip, is situated on an operational wheat and sheep farm. The setting is amidst the vast expanse of the Elandsberg Nature Reserve in the Cape Winelands. 

Bartholomeus is dedicated to nature restoration projects such as the Geometric Tortoise Headstart Project. This aims to revive the tortoise populations on the farm and in the reserve after the devastating fires in 2012.  They also operate a buffalo sanctuary where diseased or injured buffalo are protected while they recover.

On the banks of the Doring River in the Northern Cederberg lies Oudrif. It is a remote getaway destination offering travellers the unique experience of spending a night in one of their 5 straw bale cottages.  The straw bale buildings have been built with no machinery on site and all the doors windows and fittings are from demolished buildings and recycled.

The cottages keep the Earth in mind and blend in with the natural surroundings.  They are completely off grid and recycling and composting of all waste is the norm.
