Teniqua Treetops

Teniqua Treetops … What a Wonderful Discovery!

We were thrilled to discover this getaway spot right in the heart of the Garden Route – a magical spot for those seeking solitude, as well as for the adventurer and the nature lover alike.

We arrived in the late afternoon and after checking in, made our way along the narrow foot-path which lead through the pristine indigenous forest to our family cabin which was well concealed among the trees. We were all delighted with our cosy treetop accommodation.  The girls were fascinated, and loved the open air bathroom.

After familiarising ourselves with our new home for the night, we settled ourselves on the little deck to enjoy the magnificent view and await the sunset.  We were perched high above the trees and overlooked a lush green valley. The silence . . . (when the girls stopped twittering) broken only by the hauntingly beautiful distant call of owls.

The girls were up bright and early, and couldn’t wait to get into the pools. When they had had enough swimming (only just before turning into prunes), they headed for the playground equipment and trampoline, and even tried their hand at some table tennis.

The weather was threatening rain but we had to explore the forest. Rain plus the fact that our littlest member was only 3 years old dictated our choice of walk, so it was off to the ‘Fairy Garden’.  We were not disappointed! What an enchanting walk it was . . . I have never seen a more pristine stretch of forest and yes, we did find fairies!

So it’s diarised! We are going back . . . I can’t wait to tackle the long walks and explore the rock pools.
