Meet Jodi Lynn Karpes – Green Queen!

I am 43 years old and grew up in Pretoria, currently live in Joburg. Have lived in Jerusalem and Arizona – both life-changing experiences. I’m free-spirited, lively and enthusiastic. I have my own Public Relations business, which is in its 10th year. As a Sagittarian I have a sense of the theatrical and a deep connection with the Earth and all its creatures. Along with Speech and Drama and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees.

  • What are you most passionate about?
    • At this stage of my life my energy is focused on business – learning and growing in this field. My first and greatest love is theatre and having an audience. I channel this love into my business to build my client’s audience through publicity. A great part of my life is being a living human aware of the magnificent resources on earth and using them wisely and sustainably.
  • What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
    • Starting my own business. Buying my own apartment.
  • What makes you angry?
    • Abuse of the earth, particularly animals.
  • If you inherited an acre of land what would you do with it?
    • Modular, pod environmentally friendly pod homes for like-minded beings / community – and create a permaculture environment to grow food and a self-sustaining safe space.
  • Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?
    • I’m a hunter (usually).
  • How many pairs of shoes do you own?
    • Not many, I’m not a shoe person.
  • If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?
    • Non gmo toast and organic peanut butter.
  • How would people communicate in a perfect world?
    • With their hearts. With honesty, vulnerability and authenticity. And we would listen with love, tolerance and acceptance.
  • What do you work toward in your free time?
    • What is free time?
  • If you woke up and had 300 unread emails and could only answer 30 of them, how would you choose which ones to answer?
    • The ones with looming deadlines that are client or finance related. In other words, the ones that could affect my reputation if left unanswered.
  • Name 3 thing in nature you find most beautiful.
    • Animals. Trees. Rain.
  • Have you used plastic bags for your shopping in the last two weeks?
    • Yes L
  • What would you say are some small steps that people can take to improve their relationship to the environment?
    • Remember that one person does make a difference
    • Recycle
    • Reduce unnecessary waste
    • Reuse
