Fern Gully Forest Cabins . . . the perfect getaway for ultimate relaxation . . .
The gully that gave the farm its name runs through the bottom half of the land. The cabins, being built on stilts at the edge of a gorge, give the impression and ambience of being in the tree tops. They are so positioned as to provide maximum seclusion and privacy and each one’s deck faces its own view through the trees.
The cabins are solely Rob’s design and creation and being uniquely different, each one has its own distinct appeal.
Each cabin is fully furnished and equipped for self-catering ease: fridge, hot-plate, microwave, crockery, glassware, cookware etc., and bedding and bath towels are provided. All the cabins have an indoor shower and loo and an additional hot & cold outside shower and braai facilities on the deck. TV reception is poor in the forest, so a DVD player has been installed for movie watching. The cabins do not have fire-places but heater wall-units.
OWL CABIN
The pioneer cabin is decorated with the feel and natural tones of the forest, and is a perfect romantic getaway for honeymooners or to celebrate an anniversary . . .
COUCAL CABIN
Has two (double-bed) rooms (one being a small cosy dormer room upstairs) and a third bedroom with two single beds. It has a spacious living-room and open-plan kitchen.
HOOPOE CABIN
Slightly more spacious than Owl, and is decorated in the colours of the beautiful Hoopoe – its outdoor shower has an even more spectacular view through the tree tops. It is frequently visited by a troop of vervet monkeys and Fern Gully’s resident lourie.
PORCUPINE CABIN
Has an en-suite bedroom and an open-plan kitchen/sitting-room. It can sleep an extra person/child on a single couch in the sitting-room, but preferably it is a 2 berth.
FERN CABIN
Not amongst the trees but is surrounded by indigenous shrubs and is very private. It has an en-suite bedroom with a walk-in shower and an open-plan spacious kitchen/sitting-room. It can sleep an extra couple on a double bed in the sitting-room, which leads onto an accommodating deck with a brick braai.
