Colour. It’s the way we see the world. In colour we make and remember life – rooted in human experience and history, nature has always been a rich spectrum of hues and tones. Adventurers and explorers have celebrated nature’s diversity for thousands of years, but some of its rarest, most captivating colours are endangered.

Exploring Endangered Colour

Endangered Colour is an OPPO campaign supporting National Geographic Society and its wildlife conservation efforts along with a content series created by Joel Sartore, National Geographic photographer. Through a series of images and short films captured on the OPPO Find X3 Pro, audiences can experience nature from a new perspective and discover a world full of unimaginable colour.

Each Endangered Colour episode focuses on a single colour – red, green, or blue – and celebrates nine species at risk of extinction. From the brilliant fur of the red panda to the bright blue skin of the poison dart frog, it is hard to imagine life without these spectacular colours. The rate of species extinction is alarming, and we are fast-losing these incredible scenes in the wild. Through raw and unfiltered, billion-colour footage, Endangered Colour brings the true colour and textures of nature to life with 100 percent accuracy, preserving them far into the future.

In a world full of distractions, colour has the power to stop people in their tracks. Captured on Find X3 Pro and seen on film as though witnessed in real life, the enticing yet venomous blue of the poison dart frog, and the apple green plumage of the thick-billed parrot beam with life. By harnessing a one-billion colour camera and screen, and showing global audiences how breathtaking nature is when captured in all its rich hues, technology informs and incites passion. Find X3 Pro’s microlens camera captures detail and colour beyond what the naked eye can see. Shapes become abstract and we are invited to view the world from a new perspective – 60x closer. From bark to plants, the parts of nature we overlook in our everyday lives are transformed into a spectacle of pattern and colour.

The Power to Make a Difference

Endangered Colour features National Geographic Photographer, Joel Sartore. Joel Sartore is the founder of Photo Ark, a multi-year effort to document every species living in the world’s zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, with the aim of using the power of photography to inspire action through education and help save wildlife by supporting on-the-ground conservation efforts. Inspired by Joel Sartore’s work, as part of our work with National Geographic, Joel went on three incredible adventures to raise awareness and capture images of the rarest and most endangered colours in nature using the Find X3 Pro.

The OPPO Brand film is narrated by OPPO Global Ambassador and award-winning actor, Eddie Redmayne. Acting is about connecting with an audience and telling a story. Through the colour and shades we experience, Eddie’s evocative storytelling brings Endangered Colour to life.
